Yes, but as with all concrete detention systems, the joints will have some leakage. The system can be wrapped in an impermeable PVC liner. The contractor installing the system is responsible for sourcing and sealing the liner.

UrbanPond is available in select regions. Please contact your local Stormwater Consultant for details.
UrbanPond is a modular precast concrete underground storage system that mimics the function of ponds and open detention basins. It has high void percentages to maximize stormwater volume, and its robust precast form allows systems to be buried deeper without the need for specialized backfill, increased wall thicknesses, or extra rebar reinforcement.
Modules are comprised of 8’ x 16’ interior and perimeter modules with inside heights ranging from 3’ to 14’ in 6” increments, giving designers more versatility to accommodate dense development, urban infill or larger high-volume projects. The modular design can be placed under roadways, parking lots and landscape areas in various shapes, sizes, and depths. The system’s internal offset leg configuration provides channel-less water distribution for stormwater entering and exiting the system, and the robust precast form allows it to be buried.

Yes, but as with all concrete detention systems, the joints will have some leakage. The system can be wrapped in an impermeable PVC liner. The contractor installing the system is responsible for sourcing and sealing the liner.
Typical sizing inputs include required storage volume, allowable discharge rate, invert elevations, available footprint, cover depth, loading conditions, groundwater conditions, outlet requirements, and any local detention, retention, or flood-control criteria. For help sizing an UrbanPond, please fill out our Stormwater Detention Project Design Worksheet. After submitting your worksheet, a Stormwater Design Engineer will review and contact you shortly regarding your request.
Yes. UrbanPond can be installed on a properly prepared stone base. Contech will need the height of cover over the system and the bearing capacity of the underlying soil to confirm the appropriate base design for the project.
UrbanPond is maintained through strategically placed 30-inch access openings that allow a vacuum truck to clean out the system. The system’s open, columnar design provides clear access throughout, helping prevent the vac hose from getting caught on transverse sections, walls, or ledges. For complete maintenance instructions, please refer to the UrbanPond Maintenance Manual.
UrbanPond can be designed to support HS-20, HL-93, HS-25, fire truck, and aircraft loading when the system is configured with appropriate cover depth and access opening placement.
