Fulton County Parks and Recreation
Engineer:
Cerulea
Contractor:
Sims Asphalt
Installation:
August 21, 1998
Technical Description:
Cerulea designed a 32-foot wide entrance bridge into the newly constructed Newtown Park. Treated with stone facing and surrounding landscaping, the structure also serves as a pedestrian and bikeway underpass. Contech manufactured the precast, modular arch units in Wilder, Kentucky.
The Fulton County Parks and Recreation Authority allowed the contractors to submit bids based upon a design/build proposal. The CON/SPAN® bridge system provided the contractor with a cost-effective, “fast-track” installation that was installed within a few hours.
