Technical Description:
For a pedestrian crossing on a new bike path in Colerain Township, Ohio, a Continental Pedestrian Bridge truss bridge was combined with precast abutments in an effort to save on both time and cost for all parties involved.
For Stone Creek, Contech provided assistance to Abercrombie with the design of both the truss and the abutments. This gave the developer a single-source provider for the entire bridge, thereby helping to reduce the overall bridge cost.
Also, as a prefabricated bridge system, installation was quick and easy. Abutments were erected and backfilled in one day, and the 73.5’ span was erected the next day, saving weeks off a typical bridge construction schedule. In addition, the general contractor was able to avoid the extra cost of bringing in subcontractors or specialty equipment since the entire bridge arrived ready to assemble.
The Connector style truss connects a walking and biking path that winds through Colerain Township to the new Stone Creek Towne Centre.
