Technical Description:
Contech installed Indiana’s first 48-foot CON/SPAN® structure at Gray Eagle Subdivision in Hamilton County. The developer, R.N. Thompson, needed to cross Mud Creek to tie together existing and additional sections within the subdivision. Evergreen Planners, the design engineers for the project, were looking for a structure that was economic, quick to design, permit and install, and aesthetically pleasing, since this subdivision is a golf course community.
Early in the design process, Evergreen considered other bridge alternatives, including a traditionally constructed single span bridge. CON/SPAN®’s precast solution best served their design requirements and desires for a economical, speedy, cost effective and aesthetic solution. The 23 precast arch units, two precast headwalls and four precast wingwalls were installed in just two days.
