ArmorFlex®

ArmorFlex®

ArmorFlex is a flexible, interlocking matrix of cellular concrete blocks of uniform size, shape, and weight used for hard armor erosion control. ArmorFlex blocks have specific, tested, hydraulic capacities and are laced longitudinally with revetment cables to provide ease-of-handling and rapid installation.

Research Proven Erosion Control Performance

ArmorFlex revetment systems combine the favorable aspects of lightweight blankets and meshes such as porosity, flexibility, vegetation encouragement and habitat enhancement with non-erodible self-weight and the high tractive force resistance of a rigid lining.

ArmorFlex has proven to be an aesthetic and functional alternative to dumped stone riprap, gabions, structural concrete and other heavy-duty, durable erosion protection systems.

Benefits of the ArmorFlex System:

  • Engineered block system supported by extensive full-scale testing - this verified performance means long-term performance without costly maintenance.
  • 20% open area - Allows full vegetation for the entire system to meet regulation demands and provide an aesthetic solution.
  • Fast and low cost installation - Substantial savings on large projects when compared to large diameter riprap.

ArmorFlex and ArmorLoc for Heavy Loading Applications

ArmorFlex and ArmorLoc provide a speedy and more flexible alternative to a traditional concrete pad and can be used for tank / heavy equipment turning pad.

ArmorFlex for Channel, Spillway and Dam Overtopping Protection

Armorflex Tapered Block Series is capable of providing erosion protection in high velocity applications, such as spillways, overtopping and diversion channels. As a cost effective alternative to reinforced concrete lining or grouted rip rap, the Armorflex Tapered Series provides needed protection while fulfilling environmental quality requirements including vegetation promotion, habitat enhancement and associated water quality benefits.

A-Jacks and ArmorFlex for Channel Drop Structures

ArmorFlex articulating concrete block systems and A-Jacks armor units are used to construct highly stable channel drop structures in steep bed grade applications. An efficient and interlocking design, which uses less material compared to conventional techniques such as rip rap, provides maximum energy dissipation. Installation time is also dramatically reduced because of their unique cabled design.

ArmorFlex and ArmorLoc for Outfall Protection

The unique shape and interlocking design of ArmorFlex cabled systems and ArmorLoc hand placed systems provide permanent erosion protection at culvert outfall locations. Unlike dumped stone, which typically requires maintenance and replenishment after periodic events, ArmorFlex and ArmorLoc systems are permanent solutions that dramatically reduce life-cycle costs.

ArmorFlex and A-Jacks for Pier Scour Protection

ArmorFlex and A-JACKS are accepted pier scour countermeasures according to Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) guidelines. These highly engineered systems provide a maximum factor of safety to critical structures.

Armortec Solutions for Shoreline and Stream Bank Protection

The Armotec® Family of Products (ArmorFlex, A-Jacks and Armortec) along with the latest addition of XblocPlus (a revolutionary hard armor system ideal for vast coastlines and breakwaters) offers permanent solutions to erosion by armoring the area of maximum scour.
