Technical Description:
Victor, Colorado, is also known as the City of Mines and is located at nearly 10,000 feet on the southwest side of Pikes Peak in the Cripple Creek Victor Mining District. This well- preserved mining town sits on the side of Battle Mountain, a unique setting of 1890’s structures and turn-of-the- century architecture.
Teller Road is one of only two main arteries entering Cripple Creek and the Town of Victor, so when a storm sewer culvert was needed on the roadway, a fast installation was essential.
Teller County and Kiewit Construction Co. wanted an innovative product for the solution and liked the idea of the steel reinforcement provided by DuroMaxx pipe. DuroMaxx steel reinforced polyethylene (SRPE) pipe was chosen for the storm drain because it combines the strength of steel with the long-lasting durability of pressure rated polyethylene resin.
Kiewit Construction Co. installed two runs of pipe - a total of 80 feet of 60 inch diameter pipe - in phased construction to accomodate for local traffic.
DuroMaxx was an ideal, innovative and cost effective solution for the site and the light weight of the product enabled a fast installation for the county.
