Technical Description:
Project owner Haines Oil was in need of a bridge to cross Gunpowder Creek in Florence, Kentucky, without disturbing the natural stream bed. In addition to completely spanning the base flow channel, the structure would also need to provide an adequate waterway opening in the flood plain to pass the design storm event.
Carr Engineering provided a multi-cell CON/SPAN® solution featuring a center clear span of 36 feet between two 20-foot span arches. Together, this configuration provided Haines Oil a cost-effective solution that meets the hydraulic requirements of the site and maintains the natural integrity of the stream.
