Stormwater Management StormFilter®
The Bridgeway Square Apartments is a 194-unit luxury apartment complex built on undeveloped land in the Capital Village community of Rancho Cordova, CA. The project includes three 4-story buildings and 316 on-site parking spaces.
The entire site was developed, leaving no room for above ground stormwater treatment facilities. Hence, engineers looked for a below-ground solution that could provide the treatment necessary for the nine acres of impervious surfaces.
The Sacramento Stormwater Quality Partnership has the most robust and comprehensive protocol on the west coast for the performance evaluation of proprietary stormwater controls. The protocol requires testing and evaluation of a broad range of pollutants to stringent effluent requirements on two separate projects of differing land use. The StormFilter is only one of 3 proprietary treatment controls ((with one of the others being Contech's Filterra Bioretention System) that have been able to meet the protocol since its inception in 1999. The StormFilter has proven itself as the best value proposition of all available land space-saving treatment controls.
An 8’x14’ Peak Diversion StormFilter was selected for the site. The StormFilter uses rechargeable, media-filled cartridges to absorb and retain the most challenging pollutants from stormwater runoff. The Peak Diversion configuration used on this project provides treatment and high flow bypass in one precast vault, eliminating the need for an external bypass or junction structures. The vault was equipped with 20 cartridges filled with ZPG media, a proprietary blend of zeolite, perlite, and granularly activated carbon to improve the performance of perlite and target organics, soluble metals, and other pollutants.
