Contech Recognized Twice at NCSPA Project of the Year Award's Ceremony

WEST CHESTER, Ohio – June 1, 2026, Contech Engineered Solutions has been recognized with two national honors at the 14th Annual Project of the Year Awards presented by the National Corrugated Steel Pipe Association (NCSPA). The awards recognize outstanding infrastructure projects that demonstrate innovation, performance, sustainability, and the long-term value of corrugated steel pipe (CSP).

Presented annually during the NCSPA Annual Meeting, the Project of the Year Awards highlight exceptional applications of corrugated steel pipe across North America. Award-winning projects are also featured in NCSPA’s national print and digital marketing campaign, showcasing innovative solutions that address complex infrastructure challenges.

This year, Contech was honored in both the Conversions and Rehabilitation categories, recognizing projects that delivered significant benefits in constructability, environmental stewardship, cost savings, and long-term performance.

Conversions Category Winner: Coconino County Flood Mitigation Project
Flagstaff, Arizona

Following the devastating Tunnel and Pipeline wildfires near Flagstaff, Arizona, in 2022, Coconino County launched an emergency flood mitigation program to protect more than 1,500 homes from severe post-fire flooding and debris flows.

To accelerate construction and minimize impacts to local communities, the project team converted the original reinforced concrete storm drain design to Contech’s ULTRA FLO® Spiral Rib Metal Pipe system. Contech further enhanced project efficiency by deploying its MOBILE PIPE® onsite manufacturing mill, producing more than 11,000 linear feet of large-diameter pipe within five miles of the project corridors.

This innovative approach eliminated more than 1,000 truck trips, significantly reducing transportation costs, emissions, and construction impacts. By combining onsite manufacturing with durable corrugated steel pipe solutions, the project team was able to meet an aggressive emergency schedule while delivering resilient flood protection infrastructure for the community.

Rehabilitation Category Winner: Buckingham Creek Restoration
Duluth, Minnesota

As part of a major environmental restoration effort led by the City of Duluth and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, more than 3,000 feet of Buckingham Creek – a cold-water trout stream flowing through Enger Park Golf Course – was restored to improve stream health, aquatic habitat, and fish passage.

A key component of the project involved rehabilitating a deteriorating historic brick arch culvert crossing the creek. To preserve the structure’s historic character while minimizing environmental disturbance, the project team selected a customized half-round HEL-COR® corrugated steel pipe solution from Contech. The 42-inch-span corrugated steel arch relined the existing culvert, providing a fully structural rehabilitation solution while simplifying installation and reducing overall project costs.

The completed project successfully balanced infrastructure renewal, environmental stewardship, and historic preservation, helping restore the ecological health and natural beauty of Buckingham Creek while extending the service life of a critical crossing.
