Technical Description:
The excursion boat, River City Star, began its 2004 season at a brand new location on Omaha’s exciting riverfront. The move to their new mooring facilities involved installing a 43’ x 6.5’ steel pedestrian walkway complete with safety railings and a slip resistant fiberglass grate decking. The City of Omaha Parks & Recreation Department chose Continental’s Connector® style truss as a ramp for the river front facility.
A thee-part zinc based paint system was applied to the Continental® bridge. The walkway is attached to shore abutments and then to the dock in such a way that it can pivot up and down as the level of the river changes. To make it easier to remove the ramp from the waterfront facility, four heavy-duty grommets were fabricated as lifting attachment points for a crane.
