City of Louisville
December 23, 2004
Flynn Brothers Contracting installed this CON/SPAN® structure just before Christmas 2004 during one of Kentucky’s heaviest snowfalls of the year. In order to avoid interruption to a nearby school’s bus route, construction had to be completed over the school’s two-week holiday break. Contech Construction Products Inc. met with the City Engineer several times in a successful effort to discuss how they could meet the aggressive schedule. Total installation was completed in six days.
“Contech was very cooperative and accommodated our needs and schedule in every aspect of the project” said City of Louisville Engineering Administrator Richard Storm.
The existing slab bridge called for an emergency bridge replacement due to its deteriorated condition. The wingwall angle was successfully adjusted in the field when an unexpected water line was discovered. A new guardrail was also mounted to the headwall.
