Technical Description:
The City of Wahpeton, Iowa, is a quiet, residential community that includes a State Park, two resorts and three church camps. The City’s Lakeshore Drive Bridge, located over the West Branch Canal, was originally built in 1896 and needed to be replaced.
As a solution for the bridge replacement, Calhoun-Burns and Associates, Inc. chose to utilize a CON/SPAN Precast Modular Bridge from Contech. CON/SPAN was an ideal solution for this waterway crossing because it minimized waterway disturbances. CON/SPAN offered clear spans (48 feet for this project) with a small footprint, minimizing intrusion into natural areas. Additional benefits of CON/SPAN included strength, stability, and fast installation. Peterson Contractors, Inc. installed this structure in just two days.
