A commercial center in Orange City, Florida was in need of additional parking spaces to accommodate the growing number of consumers visiting the center. The only available land space located on the property was a detention pond. Engineers at CPD decided to relocate the detention system underground, and reuse the space for parking.

The system was made from 130 LF of 84" and 1,300 LF of 60" perforated Aluminized Steel Type 2. A concrete junction box was also provided, as the system invert elevation varied throughout the footprint.

The system originally called for a detention system made from plastic pipe, but after reviewing the cost of materials and installation, it was determined the CMP detention system offered by Contech was the most economical solution.

The system was installed by Hardy Tractor in just a few days. “CMP is the best water retention solution I have found. I expect significant demand to support increased residential and commercial growth in Florida,” said Thad Hardy with Hardy Tractor.
