This CON/SPAN® structure was installed during a complete renovation of the Grand Basin adjacent to the St. Louis Art Museum in Forest Park. A combined effort between the City of St. Louis and private donations recaptured the beauty and significance of the park, which dates back to the 1904 World’s Fair. The renovation of the entire park was completed in stages for the 2004 celebration of the Centennial of the World’s Fair.

The graceful appearance of the CON/SPAN® shape was chosen to reflect the artistic vision of the original designer. The structure met the aesthetic park reconstruction goals while carrying pedestrian traffic and handling expected water flow.
