The Coors Brewery needed to replace an existing concrete girder bridge that was experiencing severe deck deterioration. The bridge connected the brewery to a large employee parking lot and a main entrance, making bridge closure inconvenient for the facility. Minimizing disruption, therefore, was a very high priority. Coors wanted the replacement structure to be installed before Thanksgiving Day.

Consulting engineer Jacobs Engineering evaluated the options and determined that the cost to replace the deck was comparative to the cost of replacing the entire bridge. After consulting with Contech Jacobs determined that the existing abutments could be modified to accept a new vehicular truss bridge.

Working together, Jacobs and general contractor Ames Construction were able to accelerate the process. Designs were completed and approved in two weeks and the bridge was delivered three weeks later. The bridge was installed and opened to traffic by Thanksgiving.

Today the new bridge provides an attractive centerpiece to employees and tourists at the Coors facility.
