100 West is a master planned community of 292 homes located in central Anaheim, California. Built by Toll Brothers, the community will offer homes with rooftop decks, perfect for enjoying the Southern California weather. With proximity to popular tourist areas such as Disneyland, Angel Stadium, and The Honda Center and local favorites such as The Packing District and Old Towne Orange, these homes provide much-needed housing in a premier part of Orange County. Construction triggered the need for stormwater treatment per the Santa Ana Regional MS4 Permit.

With a source of the City's potable water pulled from an aquifer below them, the stormwater discharges were of particular concern. To get the project permitted, engineers had to meet the stormwater treatment requirements of the Santa Ana Regional MS4 Permit and the specified stormwater BMPs needed to meet Washington Department of Ecology TAPE Approvals and vector control requirements. In addition, the site was densely developed, with little room for traditional land-based solutions.

To meet these requirements, engineers at C&V Consulting specified 13 Modular Wetlands Linear Bioretention systems. The Modular Wetlands Linear TAPE approval and approval by the City of Anaheim provided the engineer's confidence in selecting this product, and the compact footprint and horizontal flow allowed for design flexibility to maximize land usage for this project.

Each of the 13 systems were custom designed by Contech Stormwater Design Engineers. The 13 systems range in size from 4' x 4' to 8' x 16' and include curb inlet and piped-in configurations. Several systems used the DVERT Low Flow Diversion trough to divert the first flush to the Modular Wetlands Linear. It captures the low flows and channels them over to a connecting pipe exiting the wall of the inlet and leading to the MWS Linear. The DVERT is perfect for retrofit and green street applications, allowing the MWS Linear to be installed anywhere available.

Contech provided prompt and thorough customer service through the design and construction process, allowing the contractor to install of the systems within the required construction window.
