Technical Description:
Park City is one of the few communities in the country that has a ski lift coming down from the mountain right in to the downtown district. To eliminate pedestrian congestion at the end of town, two Continental ® pedestrian truss bridges were placed so skiers and competitors could avoid vehicular traffic.
Prior to installation, skiers would have to walk several blocks through town, carrying their skis and heavy gear. The Park City Mountain Ski Resort purchased the bridge so skiers and competitors could ski right into town.
The bridges are designed with a concrete deck to carry two feet of soil and grass, and at least two feet of packed snow. In the summertime, the bridge is a part of a green beltway leading right up to the mountain.
