Print Case Study
Montana Department of Transportation (MDT)
Some projects are remembered long after they are completed, not because of the size, but because of the complexities. This project was extremely complicated because of the site restrictions. The detention system was installed from property line to property line and just above groundwater. So, by definition, this was an extremely tight sight constrain with which to design and install a detention system that was capable of storing 7,844 cubic feet of stormwater.
An ALT2 CMP Detention System was selected as the ideal solution due to its ability to be manufactured in whatever diameter needed, in this case 33-inch. It was also the most cost-effective option, as Contech was able to manufacture custom fittings such as elbows and tees as needed. There were forty-two elbows and tees required for this project along with eighteen weirs. Most cities require treatment prior to containment. In this case, a CDS® 3020-6 was placed upstream to address all the treatment requirements. The project has been a success and has allowed Contech to gain acceptance for detention systems in all major cities in Montana and many smaller communities.
