Technical Description:
The installation of the Luce Line Trail recreation bridge included two massive 176’ long by 14’ wide Keystone® style spans. Attractive detailing to the bridge entry points adds a finishing touch to the structures. Concrete retaining walls were poured and extensive site improvements were made.
The bridge was delivered with heavy Douglas fir decking and provisions were also made for a cast-in-place concrete deck. The structures and decking weigh over 200,000 pounds each. They were transported in sections to their installation point near Long Lake, Minnesota, just west of Minneapolis. The Luce Line Trail Bridge allows pedestrians using the 63- mile long trail to safely cross over two very busy rail lines.
