Afton Mountain Vineyards

Contech designed this CON/SPAN^® wine cave near Charlottesville, Virginia, for owner of Afton Mountain Vineyards, Tom Corpora, a writer for wine magazines and related industry publications. Its first winery application in the area, Contech installed the structure on a curved alignment placed on a base slab, which was later topped with a stucco finish from the inside. The finished structure featured a back endwall with an entry door into the basement of the winery building.

Completing the structure with interior lighting, the buried wine cave supports optimal production conditions of wine through natural temperature and humidity control. The installation was well- covered by radio and television media representatives due to the unique approach to conventional wine cave design.
