Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts

April 01, 2008
With the development of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts near the Kansas City Convention Center in downtown Kansas City, there was a need for a stormwater detention system.
For this project, the engineer, Taliaferro & Browne, Inc. and the contractor, Kissick Construction Co., had to take into account the limited footprint of the land but also had to find a product that could accomodate a large storage requirement.
An Alumized Corrugated Metal Pipe (CMP) Detention System from Contech was chosen because it could easily fulfill both conditions. They are sized and shaped to fit a site’s footprint and storage needs and are also installed below-grade in order to maximize property usage and lower development costs.
The CMP Detention System was installed within the required schedule and the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts is scheduled to open for the 2010-2011 performance season.
