In 1998, the Vermont AOT used segmental sliplining to rehabilitate a 40-year-old galvanized steel 96” diameter MULTI-PLATE® at 302-ft. long using 78-in. diameter Aluminum Structural Plate on a 14% grade.
Morrill Construction was contracted to furnish, install and grout the structure at a total cost of $218,000 or $722/lf. This included new headwalls and channel work on both the inlet and outlet. The cost and time savings versus an open cut and replacement of this large culvert buried deep under the Interstate highway was staggering. The new structure should provide in excess of 100 years service life.
