Four Mile Creek residents together with Teller County Park officials celebrated the grand opening of the Continental ® pedestrian truss bridge over Hay Creek with a little American ingenuity. The day started with a biscuits and gravy fundraiser served by the local EMS auxiliary. The proceeds were used to purchase equipment for the county’s Emergency Medical Services. The Continental pedestrian truss bridge is located on the Gold Belt Tour National Scenic Byway. The grand opening branding celebration was the residents’ way to recognize the importance of agricultural history to the county and the state of Colorado. “The event was a tremendous success” said Kevin Tanski, Teller County Parks Coordinator. “Nearly 100 attended the event and 50 brands are now burned into the bridge’s Ipe hardwood decking, hopefully to last for generations” The 65-ft. long by 6-ft. wide weathering steel pedestrian bridge was installed in less than a day.
