Creek Road Bridge

Organized as a design-build project, this twin-celled CON/SPAN^® structure from Contech was installed as an emergency replacement bridge in October 1996. Seeking emergency funding from the state, the village was required to provide a total cost for the structure. This prompted the village to seek a design-build contract including both design and construction.

Meeting strict emergency deadlines, traffic was restored in only 60 days from the contract date. The final cost was nearly $200,000 below the original estimate and included all surveying, site work, design fees and incidental utility work, as well as bridge and roadway construction.

The structure won a National Design Build Award for “Best Design-Build Civil Project Under $15 million” in 1999.
