Bosque Brewing Company is a microbrewery based in New Mexico
that strives to produce not only great tasting beer but also create jobs and
contribute to the local economy and community. With taprooms located in
Albuquerque and Las Cruces, the owners moved into an aggressive growth phase
that included multiple expansions in facilities, staff, and equipment.
As part of this expansion, a new production brewery and
taproom was slated for construction in Bernalillo, NM. The facility was to be
built in line with a live flow sanitary sewer line that runs parallel to
Highway 550. The brewery would merge into this existing service. Once the line
leaves the brewery, it would go down a slope about a 100’ ending at a lift
station next to the Rio Grande River.
However, the brewery, sewer line, and lift station are all
located in the Rio Grande Bosque. The bosque is a swamp land next to the Rio
Grande River. In order to protect the Rio Grande Waterway from contamination,
should flooding occur, a sanitary sewer overflow solution was included in the
site design. Initially, a fiberglass overflow tank was considered, but this traditional
tank solution proved to be too expensive. Instead, the Engineer of Record, RESPEC, reached out to Contech Engineered Solutions to identify a better
solution. Ultimately, a DuroMaxx® SRPE SSO tank was selected as it met the
project requirements while providing significant cost savings when compared to
the alternate fiberglass solution. With the DuroMaxx tank on the final set of
plans, the contractor, ISHC, reached out to Core & Main to supply the tank.
Contech worked with the project engineer to provide a full
design as well as drawing, installation guidance, and a preconstruction meeting
with the contractor to ensure the project’s success. The tank was installed in
just two-weeks and adhered to the required EPA Guidelines for Installation of
Underground Storage Tanks (USTs).
Robert George from Core & Main commented, “The DuroMaxx
Pipe was a cost-effective solution, and my customers were pleased with the ease
of installation.”
