Technical Description:
After years of planning, the City of Wenatchee in Washington state has installed a new Continental ® pedestrian truss bridge that connects Riverfront Park and the downtown area. The structure spans the railroad tracks and allows users safe access to the city park.
The new Continental Connector ® style truss bridge has several custom features including a forest green metal roof. In addition, green chain link fencing was installed from the deck enclosing walkway over the railroad tracks.
The Wenatchee Arts Commission plans to place artwork at both entrances to the bridge. The Commission wants to achieve a “gateway” feel to the bridge and plans to accomplish this by placing additional artwork on the lamp pole uprights. A lighted ramp provides access to the new bridge.
The five span bridge was pre-engineered and prefabricated at the plant and then transported to the site. Installation took only one day.
