Bordered on three sides by National Forest, the rural subdivision of Alpine Mountain Ranch offers breathtaking views and abundant wildlife. Corporex, Inc. is developing the 1219-acre property with an environmentally sensitive focus that includes a 900-acre set-aside for wildlife conservation.
To access the property from U.S. Highway 40, the developers needed to cross Walton Creek, a tributary of the Yampa River. Corporex, Inc. was familiar with Contech and contacted the company seeking a suitable bridge for the location. After reviewing several options, they selected a Contech Keystone® vehicular bridge for its classic appearance and aesthetic appeal.
Based on river hydraulic modeling, Civil Design Consultants, Inc. and their structural subconsultant, Lykken and Kramer, prepared design criteria for the bridge, abutments, and approaches. Precision Excavating, Inc., constructed the abutments and handled the installation.
“The bridge installation is designed to pass a 100-year flood event” said David Zehner, owner of Precision Excavating, Inc. “Things went well working with Contech. The bridge plans were good and the installation went fine. We have been fortunate to work on the Alpine Mountain Ranch project”
