CDS®

Superior Trash Removal from Urban Runoff

The CDS system uses continuous deflective separation to provide you with a uniquely capable product. It effectively screens, separates and traps debris, sediment and oil from stormwater runoff and is an ideal system to meet trash Total Maximum Daily Load requirements

CDS Hydrodyamic Separation Unit
Hydrodynamic
Separation

Using patented continuous deflective separation technology, the CDS system effectively screens, separates and traps debris, sediment, and oil and grease from stormwater runoff. The indirect screening capability of the system allows for 100% removal of floatables and neutrally buoyant material, without binding.

The system is available in both offline and inline configurations.

With the CDS system you'll get:

One-of-a-Kind Screening Technology

  • Captures and retains 100% of floatables
  • Self-cleaning screen – only non-blocking screening technology available
  • Water velocities within the swirl chamber continually shear debris off the screen to keep it clean
  • Various screening apertures available

Proven Performance

  • Performance verified by NJ CAT and WA DOE

Excellent Pollutant Retention

  • Isolated Storage Sump eliminates washout potential
  • Oil Baffle improves hydrocarbon removal

Multiple Options to Meet Site-Specific Needs

  • Inline, offline, grate inlet and drop inlet
  • Multiple pipe inlets – eliminate the need for junction manholes and offset pipe orientations
  • Internal and external bypass available

Hydrodynamic Separation for Water Quality

CDS Water QualityOur hydrodynamic separation products (including the CDS, Vortechs, and VortSentry HS) are reliable, easy to install, and offer high-performance, proven, stormwater pollutant removal. The systems are widely accepted for effective solids removal and can be designed to achieve your site treatment goals - including TMDL requirements for TSS and trash.

Pretreating with HDS Systems

CDS PretreatmentOur hydrodynamic separation systems - CDS, Vortechs and VortSentry HS - installed as pretreatment can ultimately improve runoff reduction over time by reducing loading to bioretention and extend maintenance intervals by removing sediment before bioretention.

Hydrodynamic Separators for Inlet and Outlet Pollution Control

Vortech Outlet ProtectionKeep trash and debris out of your lakes, streams and oceans by installing one of our hydrodynamic separators at the inlet or outlet of your drainage system.  Our systems - which include the CDS,  Vortechs, and VortSentry HS - are most effective on sediments, trash and debris, and oil and grease.

Treating Stormwater on Industrial Sites with Hydrodynamic Separation

Stormwater Treatment IndustrialOur stormwater treatment systems can be utilized on industrial sites and are able to comply with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) industrial stormwater permits. We have over a decade of experience in the industrial stormwater treatment market, and can provide reliable, flexible and cost-effective solutions to meet environmental permit requirements. Our hydrodynamic separation systems target solids and trash and debris, and can be an effective pretreatment system prior to a filtration system.

SS Credit 6.1 – Stormwater Quantity Control, 1 Point

Intent – Limit disruption of natural hydrology by reducing impervious cover, increasing on-site infiltration, reducing or eliminating pollution from stormwater runoff and eliminating contaminants.

Potential contribution: Contech Pretreatment Systems
  • Extend the service life of infiltration and detention system
  • Minimize maintenance
  • Control flow into infiltration systems

SS Credit 6.2 – Stormwater Quality Control, 1 Point

Intent – Limit disruption and pollution of natural water flows by managing stormwater runoff.

Potential contribution: Stormwater Treatment Products
  • Many systems can be designed to achieve 80% removal of total suspended solids (TSS) load
  • Choose the product that best meets your water quality objectives and local regulations

WE Credit 1 – Water Efficient Landscaping, 2-4 Points

Intent – Limit or eliminate the use of potable water or other natural surface or subsurface water resources available on or near the project site for landscape irrigation. Reduce by 50% (2 points) or eliminate (4 points).

Potential contribution: Contech Stormwater Treatment Systems
  • Pretreat rainwater to remove pollutants with treatment systems.

WE Credit 3 – Water Efficiency, 2-4 Points

Intent – Further increase water efficiency within buildings to reduce the burden on municipal water supply and wastewater systems. Reduce by 30% (2 points), reduce by 35% (3 points) or reduce by 40% (4 points).

Potential contribution: Contech Stormwater Treatment and Detention Systems
  • Pretreat rainwater for applications such as toilet flushing.

MR Credit 4 – Recycled Content, 1-2 Points

Intent – Increase the demand for building products that incorporate recycled content materials. The sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the pre-consumer content constitutes at least 10% (1 point) or 20% (2 points), based on cost, of the total value of the materials in the project.

Potential Contributions: Contech Concrete Structures
  • Many Contech vendors use recycled materials in their concrete mixes
  • Contact your local Contech representative for project specific information.

RP Credit 1 - Regional Priority

Intent - Provide an incentive for the achievement of credits that address geographically-specific environmental priorities.
