Hydrodynamic
Separation

The VortSentry HS is a compact, below grade stormwater treatment system that employs helical flow technology to enhance gravitational separation of floating and settling pollutants from stormwater flows. With the ability to accept a wide range of pipe sizes, the VortSentry HS can treat and convey flows from small to large sites. A unique internal bypass design means higher flows can be diverted without the use of external bypass structures. The VortSentry HS is also available in a grate inlet configuration, which is ideal for retrofit installations.

Hydrodynamic Separation for Water Quality

Our hydrodynamic separation products (including the CDS, Vortechs, and VortSentry HS) are reliable, easy to install, and offer high-performance, proven, stormwater pollutant removal. The systems are widely accepted for effective solids removal and can be designed to achieve your site treatment goals - including TMDL requirements for TSS and trash.

Pretreating with HDS Systems

Our hydrodynamic separation systems - CDS, Vortechs and VortSentry HS - installed as pretreatment can ultimately improve runoff reduction over time by reducing loading to bioretention and extend maintenance intervals by removing sediment before bioretention.

Hydrodynamic Separators for Inlet and Outlet Pollution Control

Keep trash and debris out of your lakes, streams and oceans by installing one of our hydrodynamic separators at the inlet or outlet of your drainage system. Our systems - which include the CDS, Vortechs, and VortSentry HS - are most effective on sediments, trash and debris, and oil and grease.

Treating Stormwater on Industrial Sites with Hydrodynamic Separation

Our stormwater treatment systems can be utilized on industrial sites and are able to comply with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) industrial stormwater permits. We have over a decade of experience in the industrial stormwater treatment market, and can provide reliable, flexible and cost-effective solutions to meet environmental permit requirements. Our hydrodynamic separation systems target solids and trash and debris, and can be an effective pretreatment system prior to a filtration system.

SS Credit 6.1 – Stormwater Quantity Control, 1 Point

Intent – Limit disruption of natural hydrology by reducing impervious cover, increasing on-site infiltration, reducing or eliminating pollution from stormwater runoff and eliminating contaminants.

SS Credit 6.2 – Stormwater Quality Control, 1 Point

Intent – Limit disruption and pollution of natural water flows by managing stormwater runoff.

Many systems can be designed to achieve 80% removal of total suspended solids (TSS) load
Choose the product that best meets your water quality objectives and local regulations

WE Credit 1 – Water Efficient Landscaping, 2-4 Points

Intent – Limit or eliminate the use of potable water or other natural surface or subsurface water resources available on or near the project site for landscape irrigation. Reduce by 50% (2 points) or eliminate (4 points).

Potential contribution: Contech Stormwater Treatment Systems

Pretreat rainwater to remove pollutants with treatment systems.

WE Credit 3 – Water Efficiency, 2-4 Points

Intent – Further increase water efficiency within buildings to reduce the burden on municipal water supply and wastewater systems. Reduce by 30% (2 points), reduce by 35% (3 points) or reduce by 40% (4 points).

Potential contribution: Contech Stormwater Treatment and Detention Systems

Pretreat rainwater for oil applications such as toilet flushing.

MR Credit 4 – Recycled Content, 1-2 Points

Intent – Increase the demand for building products that incorporate recycled content materials. The sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the pre-consumer content constitutes at least 10% (1 point) or 20% (2 points), based on cost, of the total value of the materials in the project.

MR Credit 5.1 – Regional Materials, 1-2 Points

Intent – Increase demand for building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured locally to a job site in hopes to reduce the environmental impact that would result from transporting these goods. Products manufactured, extracted and recycled within 500 miles of the project site for a minimum of 10% (1 point) or 20% (2 points), based on cost of the total materials value.
