Filtration

The Stormwater Management StormFilter removes the most challenging target pollutants – including fine solids, soluble heavy metals, oil, and total nutrients – using a variety of sustainable media. For more two decades, StormFilter has helped clients meet their regulatory needs, and through product enhancements the design continues to be refined for ease of use.
Stormwater Management StormFilter

Here's why StormFilter is the best filter available:

Superior Hydraulics

  • External bypass – ensures easy access to a removal of trash and debris which could clog system over time and cause backwater
  • Multiple cartridge heights – Shrink system size, reducing install costs
  • Multiple cartridge heights – Minimize head loss to fit within the hydraulic grade line
  • Over 30 StormFilter configurations in use across the country

Reliable Longevity

  • One-of-a-kind self-cleaning hood – Prevents surface blinding, ensures use of all media, and prolongs cartridge life
  • Two-year maintenance cycles - Fewer maintenance events compared to similar products reduces costs over the lifetime of the system
  • 15-years of maintenance experience – Predictable long-term performance comes standard

Proven Performance

  • Only proven filter on the market - Performance verified by the WA DOE and NJ DEP
  • Achieve water quality goals with confidence – Easy approval speeds permitting
  • 8th Generation Product – Design refined and perfected over two decades of research and experience
  • Full-scale testing at more than 10 sites around the United States

Underground System Maximizes Profitability

  • Save land space, allow denser development and reduce sprawl
  • Add parking, increase building size, develop outparcels by eliminating above ground systems
  • Compact design also reduces construction and installation costs by limiting excavation

Filtration Systems for Water Quality

Filter for Water QualityThe Stormwater Management StormFilter and MFS systems provide the highest treatment level of any standalone BMP, and meet the most stringent regulatory requirements. They are able to target site-specific pollutants with customized filtration media to meet your water quality goals. Our field-proven products have earned hundreds of standalone BMP approvals from regulatory agencies nationwide.

Filtration for LID Designs

StormFilter for LIDThe cartridge-based Stormwater Management StormFilter and MFS systems can be easily configured as decentralized, small scale inlets, including catch basin, curb inlet and manhole systems to meet LID treatment requirements. The systems provide high removal efficiency for primary pollutants of concern.

Filtration for Removing Pollutants Prior to Discharge

StormFilter Inlet ProtectionMedia filtration systems - like our StormFilter and MFS systems - are able to remove the most challenging pollutants from stormwater, including total phosphorus, soluble metels, oil, and very fine particles (down to 15 microns). Available in vault, manhole, high flow and volume configurations, the StormFilter can be engineered to treat a wide range of flows within your drainage system and capture pollutants prior to discharge off-site.

Filtration for Industrial Sites

StormFilter Inlet ProtectionUse the StormFilter or MFS systems to target fine solids, dissolved metals and oil and grease from stormwater runoff at a variety of industrial sites.  These systems can effectively remove zinc and airborne particulates from metal roofing, dissolved cooper and other metals leaching from condenser tubing, and paint from surface preparation and painting, to name just a few. We provide the reliability and flexibility you need to meet environmental permit requirements.

SS Credit 6.1 – Stormwater Quantity Control, 1 Point

Intent – Limit disruption of natural hydrology by reducing impervious cover, increasing on-site infiltration, reducing or eliminating pollution from stormwater runoff and eliminating contaminants.

Potential contribution: Infiltration StormFilter
  • Treatment and infiltration in one manhole device

Potential contribution: CONTECH Pretreatment Systems
  • Extend the service life of infiltration and detention system
  • Minimize maintenance
  • Control flow into infiltration systems

SS Credit 6.2 – Stormwater Quality Control, 1 Point

Intent – Limit disruption and pollution of natural water flows by managing stormwater runoff.

Potential contribution: Stormwater Filtration - The Stormwater Management StormFilter
  • Complies with the criteria and conforms to accepted protocol for field monitoring set by WA TAPE1 and NJDEP TARP2 for BMP monitoring
1 Guidance for Evaluating Emerging Stormwater Treatment Technologies, Technology Assessment Protocol – Ecology (TAPE), Washington Department of Ecology
2 The Technology Acceptance Reciprocity Partnership Protocol for Stormwater Best Management Practice Demonstrations (TARP), New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP)

WE Credit 1 – Water Efficient Landscaping, 2-4 Points

Intent – Limit or eliminate the use of potable water or other natural surface or subsurface water resources available on or near the project site for landscape irrigation. Reduce by 50% (2 points) or eliminate (4 points).

Potential contribution: CONTECH Stormwater Treatment Systems
  • Pretreat rainwater to remove pollutants with treatment systems

WE Credit 3 – Water Efficiency, 2-4 Points

Intent – Further increase water efficiency within buildings to reduce the burden on municipal water supply and wastewater systems. Reduce by 30% (2 points), reduce by 35% (3 points) or reduce by 40% (4 points).

Potential contribution: CONTECH Stormwater Treatment and Detention Systems
  • Reuse harvested rainwater for grey water applications such as toilet flushing

MR Credit 4 – Recycled Content, 1-2 Points

Intent – Increase the demand for building products that incorporate recycled content materials. The sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the pre-consumer content constitutes at least 10% (1 point) or 20% (2 points), based on cost, of the total value of the materials in the project.

Potential Contributions: CONTECH Concrete Structures
  • Many CONTECH vendors use recycled materials in their concrete mixes
  • Contact your local CONTECH representative for project specific information.

MR Credit 5.1 – Regional Materials, 1-2 Points

Intent – Increase demand for building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured locally to a job site in hopes to reduce the environmental impact that would result from transporting these goods. Products manufactured, extracted and recycled within 500 miles of the project site for a minimum of 10% (1 point) or 20% (2 points), based on cost of the total materials value.
