HEL-COR® Pipe

HEL-COR® PipeStrong, Durable and Reliable Pipe Solution

Helically corrugated HEL-COR steel pipe has over 55 years of proven performance. It's manufactured with continuous locked seams with annular corrugated ends to use with soil-tight HUGGER® Bands. Typical applications are culverts, stormwater detention systems, small bridges, and storm sewers.

A wide variety of wall thicknesses (gages), corrugations, diameters and pipe section lengths permit a choice of materials to meet specific jobsite requirements.

Durability requirements are addressed by a wide choice of materials: Galvanized Steel, Aluminized Steel Type 2 and polymer-coated steel. Standard fittings include tees, wyes, elbows, saddle branches, reducers and manifolds for detention systems. Manholes and catch basins are fabricated to meet specific job requirements. Meet your specific requirements with our selection of protective coatings and linings.

Benefits of HEL-COR Pipe:

  • Proven service life - Exceeds 100-years with proper specification that meets all AASHTO and ASTM pipe specifications
  • Sustainable - Industry’s most recycled material allows you to walk in a low-carbon footprint
  • Traceable quality - Maintains grade and performance and reduces risk associated with system failures
  • Strong - Can handle fill heights in excess of 100 feet. With different gages and corrugation profiles, the depth of cover is almost unlimited
  • Flexible - Is forgiving during the rigors of installation and allows for steep slope applications
  • Lightweight - Is easier and less expensive to install
  • Versatile - Manufactured in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, including diameters from 6 inches to more than 15 feet
  • Positive Pipe Connections - Maintains pipe integrity on-line and in-grade
  • Homogenous Material - Eliminates failures due to stress cracks, shrinkage cracks and air voids

CMP Pipe for Storm Sewers

CMP for Storm SewerNo other type of drainage structure offers the range of structural strength that’s available with CMP - performs where rigid pipe fails. We offer coatings and linings to increase the life of installations up to 100 years as well as provide products with a Manning’s “n” equivalent to other smooth wall drainage products. We provide a full range of CMP for severe-to-normal conditions.

CMP for Culverts, Canals and Ditch Enclosures

CMP CulvertsOur corrugated steel pipe is the most durable, economic, and widely chosen material for most culverts.

CMP Pipe for Wind Turbine Foundations and Vertical Shafts

CMP Vertical ShaftCONTECH large-diameter CMP is used as a deep foundation form at the base of the windmill. CMP is placed vertically to act as a form for the poured-in-place concrete foundation.

CMP and PVC Pipe for Pipe Reline

Pipe RelineLining inadequate or failing structures with corrugated metal material or plastic pipe uses little of the available area, thereby preserving the maximum amount of the original opening. Due to the hydraulic efficiency of CONTECH products, often a smaller structure provides the same hydraulic capacity as the original because of the low Manning “n” factors of A-2000 and A2 Liner PVC pipes and HEL-COR and ULTRA FLO CMP pipes. Existing pipes and arches are generally lined with structures of the same shape, though slightly smaller in size. Rectangular openings can be lined with round, elliptical or pipe arch structures. Corrugated metal structures can fit almost any existing shape.

CMP and PVC Pipe for Rehabilitating Storm, Sanitary Sewers and Small Culverts

Pipe RehabilitationReline drainage structures with hydraulically efficient corrugated steel, aluminum or PVC pipe. ULTRA FLO and HEL-COR are CMP Pipes available in standard diameters through 120” and 144" respectively. Special diameters are also available in both products. The PVC pipe systems, A-2000 and A2 Liner Pipe—used for both drainage structures and sanitary sewers—are available through 36” diameter.

CMP Subsurface Infiltration Systems

CMP InfiltrationCMP and pipe arch is available fully or partially perforated to meet your Low Impact Development (LID) requirements. Standard pipe-wall perforations provide approximately 2.5% open area. CMP infiltration systems retain runoff in the pipe and surrounding stone until it can be slowly released into the surrounding native soil.

CMP Stormwater Detention Systems

CMP DetentionFlexible configurations and pipe coatings are adaptable to site-specific footprints and conditions. CMP detention systems store stormwater exceeding a site's allowable discharge rate and release it slowing over time. Installed belowgrade, the systems maximize property usage and meet your specific water quanitity requirments. CMP detention systems are available in all AASHTO M-36 Types.

MR Credit 4 – Recycled Content, 1-2 Points

Intent – Increase the demand for building products that incorporate recycled content materials. The sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the pre-consumer content constitutes at least 10% (1 point) or 20% (2 points), based on cost, of the total value of the materials in the project.

Potential Contribution: CONTECH Metal Pipe and Structures
  • Steel is the most recycled material in the world
  • Up to 80% recycled content

MR Credit 5.1 – Regional Materials, 1-2 Points

Intent – Increase demand for building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured locally to a job site in hopes to reduce the environmental impact that would result from transporting these goods. Products manufactured, extracted and recycled within 500 miles of the project site for a minimum of 10% (1 point) or 20% (2 points), based on cost of the total materials value.

Potential Contribution: All CONTECH Products
