Turf Reinforcement Mats

Turf Reinforcement MatsFiber technology for enhanced vegetation growth

Reinforcement is the only way vegetated channels and slopes can stand up to stormwater. Their unique fiber shape and 3-D pattern create a thick matrix of voids for quicker, thicker vegetation growth and they provide additional reinforcement that doubles your vegetation’s natural erosion protection abilities

Unlike ECBs, these flexible, 3-D reinforcement systems remain a permanent part of your application, anchoring mature plants to the soil for superior, long-term erosion resistance.

Benefits of our Turf Reinforcement Mats:

  • Patented X3 technology provides the fastest way to permanently anchor vegetation
  • Provides twice the erosion protection of vegetation alone
  • All components are stabilized against ultraviolet (UV) degradation
  • More cost effectively than traditional riprap systems
  • New second generation 3-D woven option provides a combination of superior characteristic for long-term performance and longer design life
  • Easy installation - no heavy equipment required

Erosion Control and Turf Reinforcement for Channel and Diversion Ditch Protection

Erosion Control for Channel ProtectionOur Erosion Control Blankets and Turf Reinforement Mats offer cost-effective alternatives to dumped stone for feeder channels and diversion ditches. Installation is fast, easy and does not require any heavy equipment - resulting in a savings of both production time and project costs.

Turf Reinforcement Mats for Stream Bank Protection

TRM Stream Bank ProtectionPermanent turf reinforcement enhances vegetation's natural ability to filter soil particles and prevent soil loss during storm events. Our 3-D systems remain a permanent part of your application, anchoring mature plants to the soil for superior, long-term erosion resistance.

Erosion Control and Turf Reinforcement for Slope Stabilization

Erosion Control for Slope StabilizationCut and fill slopes occurring during construction are a major contributor to soil erosion and associated water quality impacts. Our full line of degradable Erosion Control Blankets and Turf Reinforcement Mats protect vulnerable slopes while promoting the establishment of natural vegetation.

Sustainable Sites Prerequisite 1 - Erosion and Sediment Control Plan

Intent – Reduce pollution from construction activities by controlling soil erosion and waterway sedimentation.

Potential Contribution: Erosion Control Blankets and Turf Reinforcement Mats
  • Provide temporary or permanent stabilization of soil
  • Allow seed stabilization until a native vegetative cover has grown and established

SS Credit 5.1 – Site Development, Protect or Restore Habitat, 1 Point

Intent – Conserve existing natural areas and restore damaged areas to provide habitat and promote biodiversity.

Potential contribution: Erosion Control Blankets and Turf Reinforcement Mats
  • Protect newly vegetated areas
  • Provide temporary or permanent stabilization of soil and seed until native vegetation is established
  • Reinforce channels and bioswales
  • Create green shoulders on roadways

SS Credit 6.1 – Stormwater Quantity Control, 1 Point

Intent – Limit disruption of natural hydrology by reducing impervious cover, increasing on-site infiltration, reducing or eliminating pollution from stormwater runoff and eliminating contaminants.

Potential contribution: Erosion Control Blankets and Turf Reinforcement Mats
  • Improve function and durability of landscape-based infiltration systems

MR Credit 5.1 – Regional Materials, 1-2 Points

Intent – Increase demand for building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured locally to a job site in hopes to reduce the environmental impact that would result from transporting these goods. Products manufactured, extracted and recycled within 500 miles of the project site for a minimum of 10% (1 point) or 20% (2 points), based on cost of the total materials value.

Potential Contribution: All CONTECH Products
