SUPER-SPAN™ and SUPER-PLATE®Large Span and Flexible Design–The Most Widely Used Long-Span System in History

SUPER-SPAN structures utilize MULTI-PLATE plates and special features that allow for a large family of shapes. With spans up to 50 feet, SUPER-SPAN structures are some of the most widely accepted long-span, corrugated steel bridge structures in the world.

SUPER-PLATE structures are long span structures, similar to the SUPER-SPAN, but with basic plate material consisting of aluminum rather than steel. These structures add both thrust beams and reinforcing ribs to conventional aluminum structural plate to achieve larger sizes. Available shapes include low and high profile arch and horizontal ellipses.

Structural Plate for Grade Separation

Structural Plate Grade SeparationOur structural plate systems, including BridgeCor, MULTI-PLATE, Aluminum Structural Plate and SUPER-SPAN, are used frequently throughout the nation's infrastructure because of its light weight, durability and ease of installation. Structures can be pre-assembled on-site and lifted into place or assembled in place without the need for heavy or specialized equipment.

Structural Plate Rail TunnelOur durable Plate Structures can meet heavy duty demands for industrial or mining applications. MULTI-PLATE round arch shapes are the most widely used structures for aggregate tunnels. Special features such as hopper openings, conveyor supports, bulkheads, escape laterals and elbows to accommodate grade changes and alignment are readily integrated. Plate structures can also be utilized to extend and improve mine entrances, providing protection from falling rocks and debris.


Structural Plate for Rehabilitating Bridges and Large Culverts

Structural Plate Bridge RehabBridges and large culverts can be relined by erecting our plate structures inside existing structures. Or, the new plate structure can be erected outside and threaded into existing openings. Our Plate Structures, including Two-Flange Liner Plate, are delivered to the job site unassembled. The plates and ribs are easily bolted together to form various shapes: round, vertical and horizontal ellipse, pipe-arch, underpass and arch.

Consisting of field bolted galvanized steel plates; MULTI-PLATE has a long history of strength, durability and economy. It is arranged and curved to make a variety of shapes, including round, pipe-arch, arch, and ellipse (horizontal and vertical). BridgeCor's advanced profile and variety of shapes is an ideal solution as well.

SS Credit 1 – Site Selection, 1 Point

Intent – Avoid the development of inappropriate sites and reduce the environmental impact from the location of a building.

Potential Contribution: Bridge and Structures

  • Long clear spans allow you to cross sensitive areas with little or no impact
  • Maintain a 50-foot buffer on either side of the waterway

SS Credit 2 – Development Density and Community Connectivity, 2-5 Points

Intent – Channel development to urban areas with existing infrastructure, protect greenfields and preserve habitat and natural resources.

Potential Contribution: Bridges and Structures
  • Connect people and services over roads, under rail crossings and across streams
  • Shorten walking distance to basic services
  • Provide aesthetic solutions

SS Credit 4.1 – Alternative Transportation, Public Transportation Access, 1-6 Points

Intent – Reduce pollution and land development impacts from automobile use.

Potential contribution: Bridges and Structures
  • Create bicycle trail connectivity - allowing alternative transportation mode
  • Create shorter, safer pedestrian access to public transit
  • Bring public transportation (i.e. railway) into a community with minimal impact to existing roads and grades

MR Credit 4 – Recycled Content, 1-2 Points

Intent – Increase the demand for building products that incorporate recycled content materials. The sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the pre-consumer content constitutes at least 10% (1 point) or 20% (2 points), based on cost, of the total value of the materials in the project.

  • Steel is the most recycled material in the world
  • Up to 80% recycled content

MR Credit 5.1 – Regional Materials, 1-2 Points

Intent – Increase demand for building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured locally to a job site in hopes to reduce the environmental impact that would result from transporting these goods. Products manufactured, extracted and recycled within 500 miles of the project site for a minimum of 10% (1 point) or 20% (2 points), based on cost of the total materials value.
