Southgate Building 3
San Bernardino, California - Recently, installation completed on a massive stormwater retention solution to meet Low Impact Development (LID) requirements for a large industrial distribution center for a globally-known top online retailer.
With the designed size of the retail distribution center, the owner required a tremendous volume of water to be stored in the most economical fashion. Contech Engineered Solutions was contacted and 96” corrugated metal pipe (CMP) proved to be the most economical way to infiltrate the water. Further, Contech was able to meet the aggressive construction schedule.
More than 6,000 LF of 96” by 16-gage perforated Aluminized Steel Type 2 (ALT2) is used with 12” to 48” high density Polyethylene (HDPE) drainage products to create FOUR stormwater retention systems that, combined, will offer nearly 357,000 cubic feet of storage!
Four tanks were installed underground in late June and July:
o Tank 1 – A 2,352 LF 96” x 16-gage with 137,627 cubic feet of storage
o Tank 2 – A 1,056 LF 96” x 16-gage with 60,771 cubic feet of storage
o Tank 3 – A 1,158 LF 96” x 16-gage with 69,165 cubic feet of storage
o Tank 4 – A 1,496 LF 96” x 16-gage with 89,271 cubic feet of storage
